The Zoo

Dallas Zoo. So I thought I'd take Thomas to the Zoo, he is old enough that animals excite him, so it seemed like a great outing to get us out of the hotel. When I looked online, it turned out the next day was DOLLAR day!! Of course I was going to go. Little did I know, all of Dallas had the same idea. We saw way more people then animals and couldn't even get a parking spot at the zoo, and we got yelled at by some guy who didn't want us parking on the street. But Thomas didn't know the difference and had a great time. And, of course, it was only a dollar.

So hot!! You can tell we are both feeling it.

The Nomads

Nomadic people are communities of people who move from one place to another, rather than settling permanently in one location.

When Greg finished his Masters program in December we felt so fortunate and blessed that he found a great job. But it didn't begin until July, so that left us with over 6-months of waiting time, so we decided to move home to Spokane and hang out with my parents for the duration. We loved every minute of it.

But now, we're in DALLAS!! For 8-months (ok we've actually already been here for 2, but I never get around to blogging). Greg's job puts us on a 2-year rotation where we move around the county every 8-months. We spent our first month in a hotel. Thank you Marriott Residence Inn for the fabulous time and the memories, but we prefer our apartment.

I have learned a few things from living in a hotel-
-The Residence is is a thousand times better then the Extended Stay we lived at in Kansas City, Missouri last summer. Seriously gross. And I think we saw the cops come about four times. And, we only had one car, so getting out was pushing the stroller to a wal-mart. Good times.
-I don't enjoy powdered eggs. And neither does Thomas, he knew the difference right away.
-I do like that if I don't want to make breakfast, I can just run downstairs with a tray and bring it back to our room.
-Luggage carts are a great way to entertain toddlers and I used them OFTEN with Thomas.
-I can still workout in my hotel room, but as a result, I will develop rug burns on my arms.
-Hotel highchairs don't keep toddler contained.
-I love free dinner nights (3 times a week!!)
-I hate the provided pots and pans. I set the fire alarm off 4 times.
-I became attached to the idea of having my room cleaned for me everyday very quickly.
-I use hotel pools more then apartment pools and would "hang out" with whoever was there. We started to pretend everyone was our friend. Thomas especially, but he believes it.

But the main thing I learned is that I like having my own place...that I have to clean myself. It's so much better and comfortable and I love just staying home.

The hotel did have a great pool so we bought Thomas some swim attire.

Hot or Not?

NOT  -Thomas I'm so sorry I subjected you to this outfit.

Not hot, but WAY better, and look how happy he looks!! True we had to buy twice, but that always happens when you are just looking for cheap.
